The word NAYA has several meanings in different language. In some language it means fresh, new, renew and it also means with purpose. Thus we have chosen this name.

NAYA has a base in the UK and in EU.

Yes. NAYA is “made in Germany” through and through. This means that all relevant processes of our brand, from research and development, production, design, packaging, storage, fulfilment are taken place in Germany.

We want to combine the best of both worlds in our product recipes. We understand our principle “Efficiency, without trade-offs” that means that we do not want to be restricted in advance by regulations when developing our product formulations, and thus can remain more free in the decision-making processes of the NAYA product formulas.

Thus, in our recipes do not include ingredients common in natural cosmetics such as essential oils, drying alcohols, animal components and fragrances, and neither do they include ingredients from conventional cosmetics such as silicones, mineral oils, parabens, PEGs and microplastics that we perceive as unnecessary and harming to nature. We have our own set of rules for the creation of our highly compatible unisex essentials.

Clean beauty is a free term that is not further defined by law or regulation, it is a matter of interpretation for a brand what it means by ‘clean’ and the same applies for ‘natural cosmetics’. Likewise, ‘clean’ is not to be equated with ‘vegan’, ‘cruelty-free’ or ‘natural cosmetics’. Rather, most brands use it to point out what isn’t in their products or what the founder of the brand would like to avoid.

For NAYA this means: We do without ingredients of animal origin, silicones, mineral oils, parabens, paraffins, PEGs, microplastics, essential oils, drying alcohols and perfume in all of our products. And will include any other products that we unnecessary and harmful to the environment.

In our opinion, scenting contradicts the current scientific standard and offers no real added value for the skin. Fragrances such as essential oils are also suspected of triggering allergic reactions. In particular if used above a certain percentage which can be harmful for the skin.

The smell of the products is that of the respective ingredients and active ingredients. As we are working with natural ingredients and actives, the smell of can vary slightly depending on the batch as we are working with natural that is wild and free-spirited.

With our essentials, we want to offer highly compatible unisex products that offer the skin real added value and will therefore refrain from using fragrances in our products in the future.

The only product that does contain Essential Oils is the Everyday Face Oil which is also under review to offer a version without essential oils.

Please read our Free From Promise to learn more which questionable ingredients we avoid.

Yes, all NAYA products are cruelty-free. We also do not conduct any animal experiments and do not commission third parties to carry out animal experiments. According to the EU Cosmetics Regulation, cosmetics that have been manufactured with the help of animal experiments have no longer been allowed to be sold in the EU since 2013.

Yes, all NAYA products are vegan friendly.

An ingredient that has been created in the lab doesn’t mean necessarily it is a bad or toxic ingredient. It depends on what type of ingredient it is, if it is plant-based, the dosage one is using of this ingredient and / or the tests that have been run. For example; most of your ‘Vitamin C Serum’ will have a lab-based Vitamin C in the products such as L-Asorbic Acid which, I hope we can all agree to this, doesn’t grow on a tree. The same applies for Vitamin E or preservatives. They can still be derived from plants but most of the time they are lab-created to reduce cost and exclude environmental fluctuations. Which again, doesn’t mean it is a bad or toxic ingredient. Most of the times, ingredients that are created in the lab are much ‘cleaner’ as they don’t contain any allergens what we could possibly react to. Thus, people report more reactions to natural skincare products than actually synthetic skincare products. However, not each ingredient that was created in a lab, we would advise to use. So, please learn more about our Ingredients Promise here. And learn how to read our label by clicking here.

By doing this, NAYA helps them to create a healthy self-sustained economies which encourages them to continue living in the Amazon and ultimately being the guardians and protectors of the Amazon. We need people that guard our forests! And are proud of their land and their heritage.

According to the law, cosmetics must be stable for at least 30 months when unopened. According to the EU Cosmetics Regulation of 2009, we mark the shelf life after opening the NAYA products with the help of the jar symbol. The number you will find inside the jar symbol indicates the number of months that your NAYA product will keep after opening. For NAYA products, this is usually six months.

In all of our products, we do without cushioning and short-lived effect-enhancement substances that have no actual effect, such as mineral oils and silicones. It is true that the active ingredients we use, such as hyaluronic acid and others, can minimize wrinkles caused by dryness in a short time. The long-term visible effect is usually visible from four weeks after the first application, when the cell turnover, an endogenous process for renewing the skin, which takes about 28 days, has taken place.

Yes, the majority of NAYA products are suitable for pregnant women. The exception here is the RENEW CACAY+A, due to the active ingredient retinol, which should be avoided during pregnancy. Plus please consult your doctor, as we are not doctors and cannot give advice on health matters.

‘External ageing’ or ‘environmental ageing’, is caused by external factors that often act together with the normal ageing process to prematurely age our skin.

Although skin ageing is a biological certainty, and there is no natural products to turn back time there is still much that can be done to make the process as slow as possible. By simply looking after yourself, body & mind and provide your skin the right nutrients it needs. Vitamin C has been linked to collagen production and it is also known that Vitamins A (Retionol) and E both play roles in the maintenance of skin health and youth. Both key ingredients that can be found in high levels in Cacay Oil. According to studies outlined that skin ageing is only 3% genetic and over 90% assigned to diet and lifestyle choices referring to external and environmental triggers. While skincare is not a magic wand, it is true that skincare products on their own cannot work miracles, and a holistic approach needs to be applied to bring balance to your life.

Factors which influence ageing include and are not limited to the below:

  • Weather / Sun
  • Diet
  • Smoking / drinking
  • Lack of sleep/rest
  • Repetitive facial expressions
  • Pollution

The ageing process, both intrinsic and extrinsic, is influenced by the formation of free radicals.

What are free radicals?

Free radicals have lost an electron and thus unbalance atoms. Free radicals are generally not dangerous and part of life. They can be formed during normal bodily functions such as when cells burn food, or the body is fighting off bacteria or viruses etc. Free radicals are part of life. However, when our cells are exposed to pollution, environmental triggers, smoking, other stressors these will create a larger quantity of free radicals in the body. This surplus creates an imbalance within the cells which triggers a chain of reaction of damage and environment of oxidative stress.

Some external environment triggers cause more harm than others. The effects of sunlight on the skin are profound, and are estimated to account for up to 90% of visible skin ageing, particularly people that lack a higher level of melanocytes in the skin.

Sunlight is composed of three different types of radiation: UVC, UVB and UVA. UVC (100–290 nm) is largely blocked by the ozone layer and has little impact on skin. UVB (290–320 nm) penetrates only into the epidermis and is responsible for the erythema associated with a sunburn. UVA requires 1000-fold higher levels of radiation to cause sunburn, so it was long considered irrelevant to skin damage. It is now known that because it penetrates into the dermis, UVA may be responsible for most of the chronic skin damage associated with photoageing

Visual comparison of chronologically sun-exposed vs. sun-protected skin reveals that age-associated alterations in the skin’s appearance are a result of sun exposure, known as photo-ageing.

Photo-ageing is a combination of  UVB injury to the epidermis and UVA injury to dermis. Photo-aged skin appears wrinkled, flaccid, rough with uneven pigmentation with an increased epidermal thickness and alterations of connective tissue. The severity of photo-ageing is proportional to accumulated sun exposure and inversely related to degree of skin pigmentation.

So make sure that you always put SPF factor on your skin when you go out and your skin is being exposed to the sun for longer periods.
